I was recently involved in a gift swap amongst PTA executive board members. I debated and haggled with myself about what to do for a gift. One day close to the party I was sitting in my chair here next to my scrapping table staring at my supplies- and then I was struck by a bolt of inspiration! A wall hanging! Here's what materialized:
Here's what I used to create this small work of art:
* Evensong Level 2 paper pack
* 4" coasters (snag 'em from your fave restaurant)
* Cranberry grosgrain ribbon
* Dimensional Elements Simple Alphabet
* Cranberry Reinker
* Olive Reinker
* Ceramcoat paint
* Colonial White ribbon from Ribbon Rounds (retired)
* Cranberry Plaid Ribbon (retired)
* Pewter Photo Hangers and brads
* Mod Podge
* Holiday Buttons
* Glue Dots and Tombow
Color your paint with reinker, then paint the letters. While they dry, attach ribbon to backs of coasters- make sure they're aligned. You can cut the ribbon in small strips or use long lengths (no worries about aligning!). Then cut the paper for the coasters and adhere. Cut paper or cardstock to back the letters (2.5 in. square I think). Now adhere those too. When they're dry, adhere letters to those little squares. Now Mod Podge (decoupage) the fronts of the now-decorated coasters. When that's dry, attach 2 photo hangers to the top, cut length of ribbon and tie on hangers. You can add various other ribbons and embellishments as you like. And you don't have to use "joy;" just pick a word and go with it!
